Just an incredible place to explore

This place is as good as it gets. Simple, dirt cheap, camping (or rent the house for the deluxe stay), in the most incredible locale I can possibly imagine (and my expectations are high). EJ himself is hard not to bond with. The site is right on the greenbrier trail - 3.4 miles to Cass and the railroad. The greenbrier trail is 78 mile north to south, and EJ's cottages/stable is located on what is well know to be the most scenic part of it (between Marlington and Cass). Beyond that, we brought horses. EJ is a through and through horseman - and if you camp with your horses, you owe it to yourself to take a trip here. Besides the Greenbrier Trail (Flat, wide, super easy), EJ has cut at least 40 mile of trails throughout the surrounding forest/mountains all within 2-3 hours of the campsite. I took my daughter on her 11hh pony and we did a 13.5 mile round trip ride over the mountains into Cass and back down the Greenbrier River trail to get back. We stopped at the general store in Cass to hitch (we actually ground-tied ours) and had cheeseburgers and fries inside before finishing our ride. On the way back, we stopped at EJ's riverside picnic/camping/paddock site to let the horses graze while we played in the very shallow and gorgeous Greenbrier River. The trails up over the mountain posed every challenge I could imagine to introduce her to a little higher level of riding than we've been going on, but still felt safe enough to take her on with her pony (knowing the pony watches her step of course). EJ had plenty of easier suggestions (and harder) as well, this fit our skill level and interests. We watched the steam engine head out across the river from where we ate our cheeseburgers. Truly an incredible experience. I told EJ that it was worth far more to us that what that trip cost me (maybe $150 including lodging in the camper, gas for 250 miles, groceries and camping supplies), and I'll never forget it - I know my daughter won't. Also, all the campsites are well groomed and fire ready including firewood. Just absolutely lovely. Can't say enough about the incredible experience I had here. Oh, and I visited the house - very pretty.
