  Sami Ghareeb, DDS, MADG

  General Dentist

  Sami Ghareeb, DDS, MAGD – Is the founder of Ghareeb Dental Group. He graduated from Meharry Medical College in 1975 with a doctorate degree in dental science. He is very active in the Academy of General Dentistry both in the state of West Virginia and nationwide. He is the inspiration behind the gentle dentistry for which we are so known. Dr. Sami is now a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, as well as a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Today, highly trained and well educated professionals use state-of-the-art procedures and techniques to help their patients retain the appearance and function of their teeth for life. Dr. Sami Ghareeb and the Ghareeb Dental Group, located in Poca, WV at 178 Main Street, offers the most advanced dentistry to his patients while remaining sensitive to their fears and concerns. He provides a wide range of dental services which include teeth cleaning, fillings, extractions, and oral cancer detection. Additionally, the Ghareeb Dental Group provides cosmetic dentistry such as whitening, bonding, crowns, bridges, and veneers. He sees patients of every age and can guide them toward specialized care as needed. His commitment to his patients’ well-being extends to their emotional state as well. The dental office maintains a comfortable atmosphere and the staff maintains a willingness to address the patients’ fears and concerns with genuine understanding.

  Steven Ghareeb, DDS, FADG

  General Dentist

  Dr. Steven Ghareeb is co-founder of Ghareeb Dental Group and has been providing his patients with world-class cosmetic dental care for over 15 years. Dr. Ghareeb is a graduate of West Virginia University School of Dentistry where he continues to serve as Leadership Councilmember and Adjunct Faculty Member. He has completed extensive post-graduate training in comprehensive, cosmetic, sedation, and implant dentistry. He is committed to advanced continuing education and staying at the forefront of dental technology. His practice is especially focused on complex reconstructive and esthetic dental cases. Dr. Ghareeb is currently Regional Director and Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and President of the WVAGD. He is a Member-In-Progress of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) from which he received the President’s Award in 2015 and is Founder and President of the state WV Chapter. He is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists and American College of Dentists and a Member of the American Dental Association and Kanawha Valley Dental Society (KVDS). Volunteerism is a vital part of Dr. Ghareeb’s practice philosophy. He regularly gives of his time and skills through WV Health Right, Mission of Mercy, Remote Area Medical (RAM), ADA’s Give Kids a Smile, and AACD’s Give Back a Smile. These initiatives serve the uninsured, under-insured, children, and victims of domestic violence. Dr. Ghareeb has also helped fund, establish, and staff international missionary dental clinics in Lebanon, Kenya, and Guatemala. Dr. Ghareeb’s proudest achievement is being a husband and father. He met his beautiful wife Shayna while she was studying dental hygiene at WVU, and they have 3 energetic boys and one delightful girl together. They love traveling and discovering new places together as a family. Dr. Steven practices mainly in the South Charleston location but is available for patient treatment and consultations at all six offices.

  Mitri Ghareeb, DDS, FADG

  General Dentistry

  Dr. Mitri grew up in Cross Lanes, WV and attended the Cross Lanes Christian School. He met his wife, Heather, there and they were married in 1996. They have been blessed with 3 beautiful daughters, Kalila, Samira, and Aleeya. Dr. Mitri did his undergraduate work at West Virginia State College, and then graduated with an RBA from Marshall University in 2000. Dr. Mitri then attended the WVU School of Dentistry and graduated Suma-cum-laude at the top of his dental school class in 2006. His primary practice is in Cross Lanes, where he and his team enjoy making patients feel at home. He and his family also live in Cross Lanes, and love to cheer on the Mountaineers and the Warriors at his alma-mater, CLCS, where his children attend. Dr. Mitri serves as the Director of Athletics and Development at CLCS. He is also active in his church, Bible Center Church, and teaches Sunday School. Dr. Mitri serves on the Board of Directors at the Union Mission as well. Professionally, he is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the West Virginia Dental Association, the OKU Dental Honor Society, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy for outstanding achievements in dentistry. He was also the 2013 President of the Kanawha Valley Dental Society. Dr. Mitri was one of a handful of dentists in the country who completed a 2 year Mentorship program in Scottsdale, Arizona under the direction of Gordon Christensen, D.D.S. Dr. Mitri received his Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry in June 2013. Dr. Mitri would like to welcome each of you to Ghareeb Dental Group.

  Matthew Scarberry, DDS, FADG

  General Dentistry

  Dr. Matthew Scarberry, DDS, FAGD is originally from Barboursville, WV and currently lives in Cross Lanes. He graduated from Cabell Midland High School in 1998 and from Marshall University in 2002 earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology and Physiology. Following his tenure at Marshall, Dr. Scarberry completed the Doctor of Dental Surgery Program at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2006. While in Morgantown, he met wife Kathleen Ghareeb-Scarberry, while she was completing her training to be a Registered Dental Hygienist. She is the daughter of Dr. Sami Ghareeb and the youngest sister of Dr. Mitri Ghareeb and Dr. Steven Ghareeb. Dr. Scarberry and Kathleen were married in 2007 under the rotunda at the State Capitol. Their first child, Juliet, was born in March 2013 and their second child Leeson was born in June 2014. Dr. Scarberry joined Ghareeb Dental Group in 2008 and helped open the St. Albans Office in 2009. Last year, the St. Albans underwent a large addition and a complete remodel and update of all equipment and technology. Along with the other doctors at Ghareeb Dental Group, Dr. Scarberry is very involved in organized dentistry. He is an active member of the American Dental Association and the West Virginia Dental Association. He is an officer in the West Virginia Academy of General Dentistry, the President-Elect of the Kanawha Valley Dental Society, and one of the founding members of the West Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Scarberry also became a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2016. In 2012, he was the Chairperson of the Give Kids A Smile Program which provides free dental care to uninsured children. Dr. Scarberry also regularly volunteers at Health Right providing dental care to the less fortunate in the Charleston area. He is also an adjunct professor for the WVU School of Dentistry’s Rural Health Program. Dr. Scarberry enjoys the variety of procedures that being a general dentist allows him to perform. A wide range of services are provided including Implant Placement and Restoration, Crowns, Bridges, Root Canals, Fillings, Extractions, along with Complete and Partial Dentures. The St. Albans Office is Dr. Scarberry’s main location but he also spends Wednesdays in Teays Valley and some Saturdays at the Poca Office.

  Joshua Massey, DDS

  General Dentist

  Dr. Massey was raised in Hurricane, WV. He did his undergraduate training in Chemistry at Marshall University. He also met his wife, Cindy, at Marshall University. Once they were married he and his wife attended WVU where they both did their post-graduate training. He graduated West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 2007, and practiced general dentistry in South Carolina for 6 years. Near the beginning of 2013, he returned back home with his family to continue his career in dentistry and serve his patients. Dr. Massey is very passionate about dentistry in his community and wishes to deliver the best, most up-to-date comprehensive dental care to his patients. When he’s out of the office, he enjoys running, golfing, fishing, and being with his family. He also belongs to the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and West Virgina Dental Association. Dr. Massey would also like to extend a special thank you to Ghareeb Dental Group and the communities of Poca, Teays Valley, St. Albans, Cross Lanes, and South Charleston for the warm welcomes, support, and confidence everyone has shown as he and his team continue to provide comprehensive dental health care for their patients.

  Carson Henley, DDS

  General Dentist

  Dr. Carson Henley is native to Alabama but grew up near Ft. Worth, TX. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biochemistry at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX, and then pursued his doctorate at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. Dr. Henley acknowledges the need to stay on the cutting edge of dental research and technology and he regularly attends numerous continuing education conferences and seminars. Beyond this, Dr. Henley is pursuing a fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Other organizations he belongs to include the American Dental Association, West Virginia Dental Association and Kanawha Valley Dental Society. Dr. Henley also understands the importance of giving back and he regularly volunteers at West Virginia Health Right serving the underserved of our community. When Dr. Henley is not practicing dentistry he enjoys spending time with family and playing golf. Also, Dr. Henley is an active member of the Kanawha City Church of Christ where he leads worship and serves as deacon. Dr. Carson Henley is married to the other Dr. Henley, Sara Henley, MD, who practices at Charleston Area Medical Center. They have two daughters. Dr. Henley practices primarily at the Kanawha City location.

  Azita Misaghi, DDS

  General Dentist

  Azita Misaghi has been a part of Ghareeb Dental Group since 1996. She received her undergraduate degree from Marshall University and is a graduate of WVU School of Dentistry, Class of 1989. After practicing in Lewisburg, WV she moved to Charleston, WV with her family where her husband is employed as a physician for the Veterans Administration. Dr. Azita Misaghi is a member of the American Dental Association and the West Virginia Academy of General Dentistry. She is a regular volunteer dentist at WV Health Right.

  Kayla Buchanon, DDS

  General Dentistry

  Dr. Kayla grew up in Gilbert, WV where she graduated from Gilbert High School in 2002. There she met her high school sweetheart, Justin, and married in 2008. Justin served our country with the United States Army in Iraq in 2004. Their lives have been blessed with two little boys, Blaine and Bradley, who make their lives complete. Dr. Kayla received her Bachelor of Science in Biology degree from Marshall University in 2006 where she graduated Magna-cum-laude. She then went on to attend the WVU School of Dentistry and graduated in 2010. She has been with Ghareeb Dental Group serving our community for over 7 years. Dr Kayla enjoys meeting new people and providing quality dental care in a warm and inviting environment. Dr Kayla is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the West Virginia Dental Association. She volunteers at Health Right in Charleston, WV.

  Lon Spain, DDS

  Born in Arizona while his father was in the United States Army, Dr. Spain was raised in the mid-west, primarily the Chicago area. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University in 1986. While attending dental school Dr. Spain met his wife who is a native West Virginian. After they married and began their life together their professional careers led them to the St. Louis area where they lived and worked for 10 years. As Dr. Spain traveled to West Virginia with his wife he began to develop a love for the State and its people. Dr. Spain made the decision to relocate to West Virginia in 1998 and has been a proud Mountaineer since that time. While out of the office, Dr. Spain enjoys the many outdoor activities that West Virginia has in abundance. He is an avid fly fisherman. Dr. Spain makes his own rods and has donated some of his hand made fly fishing rods to servicemen wounded in the middle east conflicts.

  Alyssa Tenney, DDS

  General Dentist

  Alyssa Tenney, DDS grew up in Hurricane, WV. After Dr. Tenney graduated from Hurricane High School in 2008 she moved to Morgantown to attend West Virginia University. She received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology followed by a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Tenney spent two years practicing dentistry in the small town of Buckhannon, WV. She met her husband, Camron, while living in Buckhannon, and they were married in July of 2017. Dr. Tenney recently decided to move back home to be closer to family. She and Camron now live in Hurricane with their dog Sadie, a black lab mix. Dr. Tenney enjoys reading and learning. She is a member of the ADA, WVDA, and AGD. In her spare time, Dr. Tenney enjoys running, and frequently participates in half marathons.

  Miranda Ferrari, DDS

  General Dentist

  Dr. Miranda Ferrari joined the Ghareeb Dental Group upon graduation from WVU School of Dentistry in May 2019. Being a lifelong Mountaineer, Dr. Ferrari also attended WVU for undergraduate studies, where she received her BS in in Nutrition and Animal Sciences. Dr. Ferrari had aspirations for a career in dentistry from a young age, and she is passionate about her patients’ comfort and esthetic dentistry. Dr. Ferrari is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, WVU School of Dentistry Alumni Association, and Teays Valley Dental Society. She is certified in the use of Lasers, Botox, and Invisalign products, and she is excited to continue to learn more ways to give her patients a positive experience and a confident smile. Native to Bridgeport, WV, Dr. Ferrari moved to Charleston with her boyfriend, Tyler, and golden retriever, Lucy. In her free time she enjoys practicing pilates, riding horses, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
